These watercolor pans measure 4.79 x 2.83 cm (containing 0.30oz / 9g of paint), which are slightly larger than other full pan sizes, allowing for easier use with larger brushes. Pans are made of plastic and feature the color name/number on the bottom. Individual pans are sold in a plastic sleeve only.
The rich and intense colors of Gansai Tambi are handcrafted with professional-quality pigments. These fine-caliber watercolors are highly blendable, with a creamy-smooth consistency found only in traditional Japan. Their bold colors are lightfast to keep your art vivid over time.
They can be as opaque as gouache when used with little water. To achieve a more transparent effect, dilute the paints with water and blend until the desired consistency and opacity is reached.
Perfect for illustration, calligraphy, brush lettering and much more! You can also add special effects to your artwork on light or dark paper with the shimmering metallic gold, gem, and pearl/opalescent colors!
Also available in "Gofun White", a traditional color in original Japanese painting techniques. Gofun is a soft, transparent shade of white with a slighty warm tone, made from oyster shells that have been ground into a chalk.

Kuretake Paint replacement pans
The shipment came in due time and the pans if paint could have been bagged together instead if strewn in the box with the packing paper. I threw out a couple of pans not realizing they were in the paper. I was able to gather them once I realized the order looked short. Otherwise, the paints were as expected as I use them often and look forward to ordering again when needed. I would love to stop in your store one time as we travel south yearly.

Very interesting media
Gansan tambi, japanese watercolor, are different. Somewhere in between traditionnal watercolors and gouache. They are fantastic if you like saturated colors, that pop, and subtle effects. Also, some colors that are not traditionnal in the western world watercolors. Great product to discover and to use and to explore.

Amazing as always
I got the white and black pans as replacements for my 36 piece set. Unsurprisingly, they are amazing quality and highly pigmented. I highly recommend this product for both professionals and amateur artists, as it is very versatile.
