HOW TO USE
Painting glossy surfaces like dishes can take some practice. Here are a few tips to remember when using Pebeo paints to help your project be a success!

*Make sure your surface is thoroughly cleaned. Wash with soap and water, then clean with rubbing alcohol to fully degrease. Let it completely dry.

*The type of paintbrush used can make a big difference in how the paint is applied, and how much the brush strokes will show. Try using a soft, natural-haired brush, like squirrel hair or a red sable watercolor brush.

*Especially with transparent paints, you can change the intensity of the color by using more than one layer. If you choose to do this, wait for the first layer to completely dry, or it may smudge.

*Use the Pebeo Thinner if you find the paint is too thick for your liking, and try the Glossy Medium to alter the look of the colors & the finished appearance!

*Pebeo paints are "non-toxic" and do not contain harmful chemicals, so they are safe if they get on your hands, etc. However, they have not been specifically tested for how they may affect your health if they were to be consumed after absorbing into your food, so they can't be labeled as "food-safe". For this reason, it is recommended that you do not paint parts of your dishes that come in direct contact with your food or your mouth.

*After painting, let your items air dry for 24 hours. If you are then going to set the paint by baking, put your piece in the oven while still cool. (Dishes put immediately into a hot oven can shatter.) Let it heat up with the oven, bake for around 35 minutes at 300 degrees F (or 150 degrees C), then let it cool down while still inside the oven. (The hot paint marks can smudge.) Be careful not too bake for too long, or at too high of a temperature- the colors can burn and take on a different appearance.

*Items that aren't going to be washed won't need the baking process to set the paint. After baking Pebeo paint onto washable objects such as dishes, your designs should be able to handle going through the dishwasher. If they are commonly used items that are washed every day, consider handwashing them with non-abrasive cleaners to help preserve the designs even better.
